ENERGY MANAGEMENT

WELCOME

Welcome to the website for the Energy Management Department of the Cabell County Board of Education.

Mission:
- to make students and staff aware of energy concerns

- to promote energy conservation among all Cabell County Employees

- to create and maintain a comfortable environment for the students and staff of Cabell County Schools

Cabell County School's energy manager is working closely with Energy Education Inc. (EEI) to implement a comprehensive energy conservation and management program that looks at each building in the school district for opportunities to save energy. As an "energy educator", the energy manager's job is to eliminate energy inefficiencies, while still ensuring that our students and staff are able to work and learn in a comfortable environment. The majority of our energy savings occur when our schools are not occupied, between 4 p.m. and 6 a.m. (Monday thru Friday) and all weekends and holidays. The use of proper shutdown procedures for equipment, lighting, and HVAC units can lead to significant savings. By tracking consumption and analyzing energy use, the energy manager can quickly identify and correct areas that need attention.

In the eight and a half years of our energy management program, we have been able to avoid 5.9 million dollars in energy costs. As energy costs skyrocket, it is imperative that we, as good stewards of taxpayer dollars, all become "energy savers" as well as efficient "energy consumers."
